Affecting as many as one fourth of the adult population with its lineup of heart attack, heart arrhythmias, stroke, hypertension and atherosclerotic disease, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States. Yet these diseases can be largely avoided in spite of diverse hereditary factors and rampant expression.

By recognizing risk factors and environmental triggers for cardiovascular disease, we have the ability to modulate their effects and regain or retain good cardiovascular health. The heart of the matter is in informed self-care.

We have learned that Alzheimer’s begins early in adulthood and is more easily averted with early choices. What are the choices to protect your brain, to maintain lifelong learning and full-life function? What are the factors that dysregulate or damage the brain that we can control or manage? We’ll explore the food and environmental triggers for brain dysfunction and the extensive resources for maintaining our brain health or reversing the damage already experienced. “Senior moments” are no longer an acceptable excuse, especially in the under-70 age group where they are reported more and more frequently.
